There is a big change to ESPN’s College GameDay. Big & Rich will no longer be heard singing “Comin’ To Your City” in its opening. Instead, Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson and The Cadillac Three will be singing this ESPN staple.

ESPN Behind This Big Change

John Rich, half of the duo Big & Rich, took to Twitter to explain how it was ESPN’s choice, not his or Big & Rich’s decision, to have someone else sing “Comin’ To Your City” as the opening to College GameDay. He stated he appreciated the time being part of this college football tradition, but ESPN made the choice to replace the duo with Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson and The Cadillac Three.

This is a huge change for ESPN’s College GameDay. Even though it will be the same song, Big & Rich has been responsible for the vocals for the past 16 years. After all this time, this will be a change both football fans and country music fans will have to adjust to.

Reason Behind The Change

ESPN, Big & Rich and the new singers of “Comin’ To Your City” have yet to explain the reason behind this change. It is unknown if this is a big secret or just something they all failed to mention. Fans will have to wait and see exactly what, if anything, is revealed.

Of course, fans of Big & Rich must be wondering why ESPN would remove the super duo from its lineup. It has worked well for almost 20 years so why the big change? Many may be speculating if it has anything to do with John Rich’s political views.

John Rich And His Conservative Views

John Rich is known for his conservative views. Despite the backlash others with similar views have experienced, Rich has not been shy about sharing his thoughts and feelings on American politics. He continues to speak openly about his beliefs and his convictions.

This could very well be the reason for ESPN changing the artists singing “Comin’ To Your City.” If that is the case, no one is talking about it. No one has come out and stated definitively why Big &Rich are no longer singing the opening song to ESPN’s College GameDay.

  1. ESPN has made many questionable changes recently and this is another. For me, this is the last straw. As of now, I will no longer watch College Game Day!
