Kellie Pickler says she is distraught following the sudden death of her husband, Kyle Jacobs. She follows by saying she is “living a nightmare.”
Heartbreaking Details Surrounding Kyle’s Death
On the morning of February 17, 2023, the famous country singer Kellie Pickler woke up in her Nashville home. She stated, “I did not see my husband and I began looking for him,” in a report made to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. The report followed with, “After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom office, the assistant telephoned 911.” Inside the room was 49-year-old Kyle, lifeless. An Autopsy report confirmed he had died by suicide from an “intraoral shotgun wound.”
Nine Months Later…
Just nine short months after Kyle’s heartbreaking death, his life and death are still being probed. On December 1, 2023, his mother Sharon, 70, and father Reed, 71, emerged with court documents seeking data from Apple’s law enforcement and an AT&T Subpoena. The documents requested date back to January 1, 2021.
His parent’s want his phone records, email and text messages, electronic footprints from cellphone tower pings, all iCloud data – which includes photos and videos, any contacts associated with Kyle’s email accounts and more.
An insider told In Touch, “Of course Kellie is distraught. She feels like she’s living a nightmare.” Kellie, 37, broke her silence about her husbands death back in August stating, “this is the darkest time of my life.’
What The Autopsy Report Revealed
While his death was ultimately ruled suicide, it also revealed Kellies husband of 12 years, had a history of “pseudo seizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes and chronic alcohol use.” He did not have drugs in his system at the time of his death.
Kyle had written songs for famous artists’ including Trace Adkins, Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks.

Kellie Was Absent…
In August, Kellie did not take part in her late husbands three-hour celebration of life. It was attended by hundreds and was live-streamed. Kellie has previously stated she was “planning an intimate memorial for my husband, in the fall.”
The same month, she declined to be the administrator of his estate, which left it to his parent’s to take control of. The subpoenas his parents have requested are intended to “present evidence in a probate matter.” Further details have not been shared.
A family law specialist, Goldie Schon, stated, “The move may be to ensure that Kyle’s estate receives all funds the estate is entitled to, pursuant to various contracts, copyrights and royalties related to his songwriting or copyrights.” He is not representing either party. He followed with, “You never know what you are going to find unless you ask.”
