LeAnn Rimes details undergoing a procedure after a pre-cancerous diagnosis
Singer LeAnn Rimes went to Instagram to share all about her January. She began by saying that the past couple of years her January’s have been rather depressing. She shared she was either going through dental surgeries or dealing with recovering from a vocal hemorrhage. However, this year, things are a little different. LeAnn shared that this January has been more joyful.
However, with that said, LeAnn also wanted to share that she underwent a procedure a few days ago. The reason she is talking to fans about it is to remind everyone it is important to get screenings.
LeAnn had to undergo minor surgery to eliminate pre-cancerous cells discovered during her last pap smear. She said,
several months back, i had my annual pap smear, which came back abnormal. in fact, i’ve had abnormal paps since i was 17 and through regular pap smears and colposcopies, my doctors have been keeping an eye on any cellular changes that could be taking place. after my latest abnormal pap smear and colposcopy revealed that i had high grade cervical dysplasia, i consulted with my doctor and we jointly decided that a LEEP procedure would be in my best interest, in order to remove the high grade, abnormal, pre-cancerous cells. now, usually you’re not under anaesthesia for this procedure, but i elected to be. i’ve had enough trauma in my life already, so i prefer to be out and comfortable. that, my friends, is advocating for your overall, mental wellness and comfort and i HIGHLY recommend it!
She always shares her health challenges with friends
Whether it’s psoriasis or mental wellness and now women’s health, LeAnn Rimes has always been open about her health challenges. She feels if it helps others then it’s worth it. So, she wants women to be sure and get their annual screenings. Early detection can be life-saving.
She even encouraged men to get annual screenings as well. LeAnn through in a joke for the men telling them minus the papsmear.
As LeAnn pointed out, cervical cancer is not always detectable by symptoms at first. This is why early detection can save someone’s life.
