Jennifer Nettles Topped The Charts With Sugarland

Jennifer Nettles gained worldwide fame as part of the country duo, Sugarland. Along with catchy songs with infectious hooks, Sugarland could also strip it down with gut-wrenching acoustic songs, showcasing the band’s versatility. It’s no surprise that they achieved the level of mainstream success that they have. Iconic songs like Stay certainly come to mind.

Even when the band was on hiatus, Jennifer Nettles stayed busy with solo projects. Nettles released her first solo album, That Girl, back in January of 2014. Acoustic Album On The Slate For Sugarland Singer?

Jennifer Nettles recently stopped in for an interview on Today with Hoda and Jenna. While there, she certainly had a lot to talk about. One of the topics that came up over the course of the segment was new music. When you have a guest as talented as Nettles, the topic is sure to come up.

Speaking of future plans, Nettles talked about wanting to record an acoustic album. Country music, as a whole, translates well in an acoustic setting. So, it’s not completely out of left field for someone like Jennifer Nettles to want to write and record an acoustic album from start to finish.

Many country fans would agree that it doesn’t get any better than a talented singer and an acoustic guitar. As iconic songwriter Harlan Howard famously said: “All you need to write a country song is three chords and the truth.”

When Can Listeners Expect Acoustic Record?

Nettles said during the interview: “I would love an acoustic album. I would love to do that.” The singer went on to say that she is “waiting on the right time.”

Stripping records down and not having a wall of sound to hide behind is certainly an act of both vulnerability and bravery. Jennifer Nettles is looking forward to that challenge, though. She went on to say that making an acoustic record would be “so meaningful,” especially when it comes time to “strip things down.”

When she’s not busy thinking about recording acoustic records, Jennifer Nettles has her hands full as the host of Farmer Wants a Wife, the dating show from FOX, where women from the big city are matched with rural farmers to determine if they can find love despite their opposite lifestyles.

If and when that acoustic album comes, there’s no denying that Jennifer Nettles has more than a few ways to keep herself busy.
