Toby Keith’s family took to social media to share the details about the country music superstar’s upcoming memorial service. The social media outlet they chose for this sad announcement was Instagram. The “American Made” singer’s family also used social media to share the news of Keith’s passing only one week ago.
Toby Keith To Have A Private Funeral
The details about Toby Keith’s funeral were few. The family kept it quite simple when explaining to the world about the funeral they were planning.
“The Covel Family is hosting a private funeral service for family, band and crew only in mid-February,” Keith’s family post on Instagram read.
No other details were posted about the private funeral the family is planning for Toby Keith. Seeing it is already mid-February, it is quite possible that a private funeral will be taking place within the next few days.
Toby Keith’s OK Kids Corral
Toby Keith’s family also requested that, instead of flowers, donations be made to OK Kids Corral. This is a charity Keith started to help children who are also battling cancer.
Toby Keith has worked tirelessly to help his fellow Okies. In addition to OK Kids Corral, he also helped families in his hometown of Moore, Oklahoma rebuild their homes and their lives. This happened after the town was almost completely destroyed for the second time when another tornado hit Keith’s hometown.
A Public Memorial For Toby Keith?
It appears a public memorial service, of some kind, is currently being planned. Toby Keith’s family added “A memorial service to honor Toby will be announced only on Toby’s socials shortly.” One can assume that means there will be some sort of service for the “Shoulda Been A Cowboy” singer in the near future.
As with the private funeral, no other details were released. It is unknown if the public memorial for Toby Keith will be televised. It is also unknown the location of where the public memorial will take place. With all of the tributes to Keith being posted from around the world, it is difficult to imagine there would not be some sort of public memorial many of them could be a part of.
Toby Keith’s Death
Toby Keith passed away only eight days ago on Monday, February 5th. According to the “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” singer’s family, Keith passed away in his home in Oklahoma. He died peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side.
Toby Keith had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. He underwent chemotherapy, radiation treatments and at least one surgery shortly after his diagnosis. Despite all the treatments and Toby Keith’s strong desire to live, the country music megastar lost his battle with stomach cancer.

I would like to be able to see a broadcast of Toby’s funeral. I know it is a very private time for the family. Millions of fans felt like he was family, I for one need closure. It has taken me 8 days to wrap my head around his death, now let’s see if I can make it through the day without tears.

I expected more media being done for Toby Keith. He’s an icon who lied his country, family,and fans. He entertained us till the very end. I think it’s a shame that drug dealers to street fighters get more attention than a larger than life entertainer and patriot like Toby Keith. If they ever decide on the date for his fans to pay their respect, I will be there. Rest in peace Big Dog we love you💖, and miss you.
