Maren Morris has been vocal about her sexuality, as well as her support of various LGBTQ+ organizations. The singer was in hot water recently for her decision to take her young son with her to a drag show, sparking outrage among some of her fans. So, what did she have to say?
Maren Morris Has Been An Outspoken Ally
As a public figure, entertainer, and celebrity, Maren Morris has used her platform to support the LGBTQ+ community. Naturally, this has ruffled some feathers, particularly among her fan base. Many listeners are still upset over Maren changing her sound and taking her style in a different direction. However, she is clearly not concerned with pleasing everyone.
There’s also the fact that, for every fan she loses, she gains another, if not more. The one thing about Maren Morris is, she has been through a lot over the years. Fresh from finalizing her divorce recently from Ryan Hurd, she is doing her best to navigate her new reality, and, not everyone is going to agree with her choices.
Maren Morris Takes Young Son To Drag Show
Morris sparked outrage recently over her parenting choice to take her young son to a drag show. Morris often brings her toddler to family-friendly drag shows. However, not all of her fans are on board with her decision to do this. Some of them were vocal about this recently, with many against this decision.
The typical argument for those against bringing children to drag shows of any kind has to do with what many see as exposing their young minds to negative influences. For Maren Morris, however, bringing her son to these types of events is a parenting choice she is more than comfortable with, despite what some of her fans may think about her decision.
My Church Singer Claps Back At Haters With Strong Message
Morris recently defended her choice to take her toddler to a drag show, saying: “Drag is centuries-long performance art and some drag is only for adults. The performance I referenced in this interview was a charity all-ages show to protest the unlawful drag ban in Tennessee that was rightfully overturned.”
Morris is clearly standing her ground on this, as well as many other issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you agree with Morris’s decision as a parent or not, there’s something to be said about not compromising herself or her choices, and sticking to them even in the face of controversy.
Many public figures might break and bend to pressure like this, but, for Maren Morris, it only seems to strengthen her conviction. That alone is certainly a quality to be admired, even if one may not agree with a specific choice.
