Garth Brooks is one of the most popular country acts of all time. How does he feel about rock star Post Malone covering one of his greatest hits? Keep reading for his surprising reaction.
Post Malone Plots Country Album?
Beyoncé isn’t the only artist jumping genres and hopping on the country music bandwagon. Pop star Post Malone blew country music fans away when he joined Morgan Wallen and HARDY at the 2023 CMA Awards. The trio paid tribute to late singer Joe Diffie by performing some of his hits.
While Post Malone hasn’t officially announced a country album, fans were impressed by the performance. And it wasn’t just a one-off. The singer took to social media this week to share a rendition of a classic country song that’s played in every bar in the country.
“Friends In Low Places” is perhaps Garth Brooks’ most popular song. Post Malone took his guitar and gave it a new spin. “Think i’ll slip on down to the oasis:)” he wrote on social media while tagging the country singer.
The cover got Garth’s attention, that’s for sure.
Garth Brooks Comments On Post Malone Covering His Classic Hit
According to Us Weekly, Garth Brooks addressed Post Malone covering his song on his Facebook Inside Studio G show. Did the younger singer do the song justice? “This is awesome,” he said about the updated version of his 1990 hit.

He added that he didn’t know that the singer planned to cover the song, but it had his seal of approval. He couldn’t stop gushing over Post Malone. “He’s one of those guys that when he sings, he’s alive,” Brooks said. He added that it’s clear Post Malone “loves” to sing.
Garth Brooks wouldn’t be surprised if the artist releases a country album. “I’m telling you, the guy is amazing in the genre he is [in] but he loves country music. I’ve heard it for years.”
