Jelly Roll has gone from felon to Deputy but how is that possible? After all that he has been through with being incarcerated and struggling to tour outside of America, he has paid his dues. Yet, all of the good he has done finally caught up with him. So, how has he been rewarded? It has all come full circle. Keep reading for more details.
Jelly Roll Goes From Felon To Deputy, How?
It was not easy for Jelly Roll growing up and he admits that he put his mother through a lot. Being locked up was hard and, admittedly, he was not a great criminal. Cops even felt bad for him at times but he suffered. His first child, daughter Bailee Ann, was born when he was incarcerated and eventually, he saw that he had to straighten his life out. When he was released, Jelly had a whole new lease on life. Eventually, he met his now-wife, Bunnie XO and they began to build their empire based on hopes and dreams. He got full custody of Bailee and has joint custody of his son, Noah. At the same time, Jelly never forgot where he came from.
He makes a concerted effort to visit inmates and try to remind them of the light at the end of the tunnel. No, it is not easy but if you put in the work and have the dedication, anything is possible. For quite some time, his record prevented him from performing outside of the US. That has since changed and he recently performed in Canada. Now, something amazing happened and it is beyond Jelly’s wildest dreams. According to popculture., Jelly is now a Sheriff’s Deputy. He was sworn in as a Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputy with the Community Cares Task Force.

This milestone moment happened in Flint, Michigan following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Jelly Rolly Music Studio. That studio is located at Genesee County Jail. Per Genesee County Sheriff Christopher R. Swanson:
“This is the real deal. You walk into any facility now, you can tell them you’re a Deputy Sheriff from Genesee County.”
Upon being sworn in, Jell said this:
“From convict to deputy.”
No One More Deserving
Of this honor, it seemed no one was more deserving than Jelly Roll. On behalf of him receiving this, Grunwald of 99.5 WYCD’s Josh, Rachael and Grunwald in the Morning, shared these kind words:
“I love the fact that Jelly Roll remembers where he came from. He cares about everyone. His motivational speeches to the inmates are incredible. And now that he is officially deputized, he will not only help people here in Michigan, but he’ll also help people around the country.”
Sheriff Swanson added that:
“Good people find good people. Which is why Jelly Roll, Audacy (99.5 WYCD) and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is a trifecta of influence, pouring into the lives of millions!”
This is a huge honor for someone who likely thought that they would be fighting the law and not being honored by those involved. What are your thoughts about Jelly Roll becoming a Sheriff’s Deputy? Do you believe that this is a well-deserved honor? Let us know in the comments below.
