Billy Ray & Miley Drama Explained
Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter Miley were always close. They even co-starred on the super popular Hannah Montana show from 2206 until 2011. However, their bond began to fracture in 2022 when Billy Ray and Miley’s mother, Tish Cyrus, unexpectedly divorced.
The situation only got worse when Billy Ray began dating the much younger singer, Firerose. When the two married in October 2023, Miley Cyrus and her siblings appeared to skip the wedding. Miley publicly alluded to the rift with her dad at the 2024 Grammy Awards by excluding him in her speech after winning Record of the Year.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose filed for divorce in early 2024 after less than a year of marriage. The divorce quickly became messy with allegations of fraud, infidelity and abuse from both sides. Miley Cyrus and her dad were reportedly repairing their relationship when an explosive audio recording leaked of him saying horrible things about Tish.

Dolly Parton Concerned For Father/Daughter Duo
Dolly Parton has been close with Billy Ray Cyrus since the early 1990s. He featured in the video for her 1993 song “Romeo.” Miley Cyrus refers to Dolly as her “honorary godmother.”

Sources close to the “9 to 5” singer spilled to In Touch that she was “extremely worried” about the relationship between Miley and her dad.
“Miley is saying she never wants to lay eyes on her dad again, the whole family is completely divided, it’s very sad. A lot of people are extremely worried about how toxic this has gotten, especially Dolly, who is Miley’s godmother.”
The insider added that Dolly Parton found the leaked audio “shocking” and believes Billy Ray Cyrus needs to take “responsability” for the things he said. The rift between Miley and her dad could affect his relationship with Dolly Parton.
“Anger management seems the first step but not before a groveling apology to those he’s offended. Billy Ray has a lot of work to do if he’s to get any face time with Dolly again soon, if ever.”
