Country Star’s Son Hospitalized, Lifted Up In Prayer For Serious Condition
Jesse Keith Whitley is the son of country music stars Lorrie Morgan and her late husband, Keith Whitley. Jesse Keith Whitley opened up about a serious health condition that left him in the hospital recently.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, December 28, the son of two country stars revealed that he had landed in the emergency room a month ago. “A month ago today I was in a pretty rough spot health wise and faith wise. I asked for a sign to confirm I was on the right path. That night, I ended up in the emergency room. It was serious,” he wrote.
Jesse Keith Whitley said that he was stuck in bed for a week in “the worst pain” of his life. “I consider myself to have a pretty high pain tolerance; this was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I turned to my faith and prayed that God would give me the strength to best the demon that’s taken so much from me through my life,” he shared.
He was hospitalized for pancreatitis. The health scare prompted him to get sober and renewed his faith in God. “Here we are a month later, my faith is stronger than ever, my health is rock solid, my foundation at home is better; Back in the gym. SOBER! I feel fantastic waking up in the mornings,” he wrote.
Jesse Keith Whitney thanked his wife for taking care of him and his mother and family for always loving him, despite not knowing his struggles.
Legendary Father Died From Alcohol Poisoning
Jesse Keith Whitley’s health scare was a wake up call to cut back on drinking. His father, Keith Whitley, was only 34 when he died from alcohol poisoning in 1989. The singer died in his home in Nashville, Tennessee, after a night of heavy drinking. His death left Lorrie Morgan a widow and single mother. She later remarried, but her second husband passed away earlier this year.
Jesse Keith Whitley is a country singer, just like his parents. He’s put out several albums over the years. In an interview in 2020 ahead of a new single dropping, he shared how his music is like his late father’s.
“Vocally, his music and my music are very different but at the same time, they are somewhat similar. He was absolutely an influence on my music for sure,” he told Digital Journal. Keith Whitley’s son has yet to reach the same level of country music stardom as his parents, but he continues to make new music.
