She was at the top of the charts and fans loved her music. Then, Elle King hosted New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash to ring in 2024. She also performed and was visibly inebriated. Yet, it was the New Year so it was not that big of a deal though people were talking. A short time later, she was invited to perform for Dolly Parton’s birthday at the Grand Ole Opry. This was a huge honor and she knew that but still, she showed up drunk.

It was not so much that she was drunk but that she was cursing up a storm. That is not allowed at the Opry as the performers must adhere to a code of conduct. Some of the performances are also streamed on radio stations so that is another reason. After this occurred, Elle postponed some of her shows and took a step back. She needed to reevaluate who she was and what she was doing. According to Taste of Country, Elle has been making a lot of changes in her life to improve herself and her career.

Admittedly, Elle was going through a lot when the Opry incident happened. Moreover, she claims that was going to happen at some point, she just had no idea when. Thankfully, all that went down forced her to change her life and now, her shows are better than ever, at least per Elle. She is now on her 2024 Baby Daddy’s Weekend Tour which will go through November, noting:

I felt so afraid to ever have a drink before I go onstage again because I appreciated someone buying tickets to my concert. I wasn’t going to let them down. I did let people down that day. And ultimately, I let myself down that day, and I never wanted to feel that way again…I’m definitely able to put on a better show because of some changes that I’ve made in my life, and it gets me more excited.

New Music, New Elle

Elle King has just released her new single, “High Road.” This is from a mantra she has been living by and it spawned from trying to keep her head up:

Since last year, if anything was going wrong or something pissed me off, my manager would say ‘High Road 2024.’

That took on a life of itself and has helped launch Elle into her tour and where she is today:

And that was our theme of, like, ‘Take the f–king high road, b–ch. Be the person that you would hope that you could be through any situation. And it’s just been a phrase that we’ve used.

Elle also opened up about her rough relationship with her father, Rob Schneider who had sent her to, what she called a “fat farm.” He also shamed her for any body modifications and she ultimately said she did not want to reconcile. Rob has since apologized.
