Jelly Roll is up for three awards at the 2024 CMAs. But the rapper-turned-country artist isn’t interested in winning Entertainer of the Year. Keep reading to find out why.

Beautifully Broken Knocks Rock Band Off The Charts

Jelly Roll just released his long-awaited follow-up album, Beautifully Broken. He earned a 2024 nomination for his album Whitsitt Chapel and his new album will likely be just as successful.

It already knocked a popular rock band out of the top spot on iTunes. According to Forbes, Jelly Roll’s new album inched Coldplay’s Moon Music out of the top spot for best-selling albums.

The single “I Am Not Okay” from Beautifully Broken currently sits at number 22 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts. Another new song from the album, “Liar” is back on the charts. The singer’s collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly (“Lonely Road” sits at 67.

Jelly Roll took home multiple awards in the last year. He was in the audience at the 2024 Grammys after earning two nominations: Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his collaboration with Lainey Wilson on ‘Save Me.”

He took home New Artist of the Year at the 2023 CMAs but promptly shattered his trophy. But he could take home three awards at the 2024 ceremony next month.

He’s up against Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Chris Stapleton for the coveted award. Lainey Wilson took the honor last year. Jelly Roll is also nominated for Album of the Year (for Whitsitt Chapel) and Male Vocalist of the Year.

But none of those are the award he really wants to win. While Entertainer of the Year would be a huge honor, he’s not interested. Jelly Roll has his eye on another prize. He wants to win Musical Event of the Year.

Unfortunately, he’s not nominated this year. The 2024 nominees for Musical Event of the Year are:

Cowboys Cry Too” – Kelsea Ballerini (with Noah Kahan)
“I Had Some Help” – Post Malone (Feat. Morgan Wallen)
“I Remember Everything” – Zach Bryan (ft. Kacey Musgraves)
“Man Made A Bar” – Morgan Wallen (feat. Eric Church)
“you look like you love me” – Ella Langley (feat. Riley Green)

But Jelly Roll really wanted to win for his “Save Me” collab with Lainey Wilson. They were nominated for Musical Event of the Year but Lainey Wilson took home the prize for her collab with HARDY on “wait in the truck.”

Jelly Roll explained to Taste Of Country Nights why the award would have meant so much to him. “‘Cause ‘Save Me’ meant so much to me, man. It was the song that did it. It was the song that changed my whole life, then went on to radio and changed my life again.”

He added, “And then to see, come four years later and this song has helped millions of people and I’m winning a fu–ing award for it? I’m like, ‘Get out, this is crazy.'”
