Nashville’s famous downtown district has become a who’s who of country music, with country music artists opening honky tonks right and left. The newest edition is a bar and restaurant from Jelly Roll. Keep reading to see inside the five-story venue.
Jelly Roll Returns To American Idol In New Roll
Jelly Roll always had a love of music. During a recent chat with Eric Church, he detailed how his mother influenced his musical tastes by playing various genres of music when he was a kid. He even said the whole neighborhood would come over to listen to his mom’s playlist.
But a legal trouble and a long stint in prison nearly derailed his dreams of being a world-famous performer. When he was released from prison in 2008, Jelly Roll was determined to keep his nose clean and fulfill his dream. His hard work and dedication paid off. He broke through the mainstream in 2022 when his single “Son of a Sinner” hit number one on the charts.
Jelly Roll is one of the most popular and famous country singers at the moment. And he wants to inspire the next generation. ABC revealed last month that Jelly Roll will play a major role in the upcoming season of American Idol.
He was a guest mentor and performer on last season. But this season, he will be the reality show’s first-ever “artist in residence” and will be on hand to help the contestants throughout the season.
But music isn’t Jelly Roll’s only passion. He just opened a bar in downtown Nashville.
Shares First Look At New Nashville Bar
If you’re visiting Nashville, Tennessee, you don’t want to miss the famous entertainment district on Broadway. The street is packed with bars from various country music stars and other celebrities. Country star Morgan Wallen opened a bar there in June 2024, a few months after he was arrested at Eric Church’s bar down the street.
Jelly Roll took to Instagram this week to share the exciting news that his bar is now open. Jelly Roll’s Goodnight Nashville is a little different from the usual bar on Broadway. His bar has a tattoo theme and patrons can actually get tattoos there.
The bar is a love letter to Jelly Roll’s hometown and the music scene. Goodnight Nashville also features an entire floor that is a tribute to his wife Bunnie XO. A back bar called Buddy’s Backroom is in honor of Jelly Roll’s father, Horace “Buddy” DeFord.
The Instagram post included a video that gave fans a glimpse at the new Nashville hotspot. The bar features live music and a menu that serves burgers and other bites. It boasts the highest rooftop in downtown Nashville.
“SHE’S OPEN!!! As a Nashville kid who came up selling cd’s on this exact same street, I cannot express to y’all how much it means to me to have my own bar on Broadway,” Jelly Roll announced on Instagram. He added that it wouldn’t have been possible without his fans.
