Megan Moroney is a force to be reckoned with. She is fun, colorful, and knows just what she wants. This was very helpful when she learned that Kenny Chesney would be putting out a new album. Not only that, but she heard there was a single she knew she had to duet with him on. So, how did Megan push her way onto the song? Keep reading for more details.
Megan Moroney Won’t Take No
There is so much good happening to Megan Moroney right now. She is in the middle of headlining her first major tour, the Cloud 9 Tour. It began on May 29th and will run through October 1st, and she has openers such as JP Saxe and Solon Holt. Furthermore, Megan just collaborated with American Girl to create a doll in her likeness. This was a huge part of her childhood, so she feels amazing having her own mini version. Now, she will have a new duet with her mentor, Kenny Chesney.
They had sung together on the single “You Had To B There,” which was a gift from Megan to Kenny. However, Kenny has a new album, Silver Sands Marina, coming out on September 21st. He will be featuring a single entitled “It Just Got Weird,” and he has been keeping close for around five years just waiting for the right album to place it. Jessie Jo Dillon co-wrote the single, and she happens to be good friends with Megan Moroney.
As soon as Megan learned that the time had come to finally record the song, she wasted no time telling Kenny she would be singing it with him:
Actually, before I sent her the song, because she’s friends with Jessie Jo, Megan called me and she goes, ‘I hear you cut a song called ‘It Just Got Weird’, and she goes, ‘And I want to sing on it!’ She volunteered. Well, she damn near insisted.
Kenny Chesney was fine with this as he loves Megan’s voice and knew she would kill it. It was just the way that she was ready without even being asked; this was her song and no one could tell her anything. Luckily, it worked out perfectly:
But I’m very happy she did it, because her voice is perfect for the emotion and the angst of that song, because there is, like I said, a moment where you just know that it’s over. No matter how old you are, you know?
The Perfect Duo
