Kenny Chesney is one of the most popular and successful country performers in the world. Yet, he was just associated with a scam that resulted in a major lawsuit, but how did it all play out? Keep reading for more details on what went down and how he was ultimately implicated.

Kenny Chesney Implicated In Scam

Celebrities are known to get dragged into scams without their knowledge. People will go out and pretend that they are these high-profile figures. Their main goal is to gain money and goods from unassuming fans who are willing to do whatever it takes. These scams can cost everyday people a small fortune, even their life savings. This was the case with Kenny Chesney, as a woman claimed that someone pretending to be him scammed her out of $310,000. Now, the biggest issue was that she maintained the performer was at fault.

So, how was he at fault when he had no knowledge that someone was claiming to be him? Patricia Linson was allegedly contacted by Kenny via LinkedIn in 2021. He stated that he needed money for various musical needs, and she obliged. However, Patricia Linson is maintaining that the real Kenny Chesney should have kept her safe. This would have been an impossible task, given that he had no idea what was happening. Moreover, this was not his doing, and he was not the scammer. Finally, the court removed Kenny from the suit as he had no skin in the game.

However, Patricia Linson did not agree with what the court decided. They held steady and had this to say:

The trial court sustained without leave to amend Chesney’s demurrer as to all of Linson’s causes of action against Chesney, and dismissed him from the lawsuit. Because Linson has not otherwise shown the court erred in dismissing any of her claims against Chesney, we affirm.

An Odd Situation

At the end of the day, Kenny Chesney had done nothing wrong. He did not scam Patricia Linson, and she chose to hand over the money. Moreover, the court saw this and released him from whatever blame she tried to place on him. As for who the person behind the scam was, that is unclear. After four years, she may not have gotten the outcome she wanted, but what more could Kenny Chesney do? Hopefully, this serves as a warning to all fans to remain far more cautious.
