Lady A’s Charles Kelley has been through a lot in his life, including getting sober. Now, he is facing a shocking cancer diagnosis, as he shared with his fans and followers. So, what is the forty-five-year-old battling? Keep reading for more details on what he had to say.
Charles Kelley Shocks With Cancer Diagnosis
It has been a rough road for Lady A’s Charles Kelley. He has watched his star rise, but then it was put on hold so that he could get sober, something he has worked very hard to maintain. Charles has won seven Grammys throughout his career, and this year, he and Lady A were set to go on tour. Plus, Charles is not just a performer but a family man. He has been married to Cassie McConnell since 2009, and they share two children. Unfortunately, the couple just shared some heartbreaking news no one expected.
Alongside his wife, Charles revealed that he has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. It is a rare form of blood cancer that the doctors found after he fractured some ribs. They ran some tests, and that was when the tests showed the cancer, but he is staying hopeful throughout the whole ordeal:
I’m young. I feel healthy and the treatments, I will say, have just come so far, even in the past five years, that even life expectancy is just far exceeds what it used to be. And I don’t know, I feel really hopeful. I really do.
Additionally, he and his wife have a friend going through the same thing, so that gives them hope. Charles Kelly equated this to staying sober and the challenges that he faced with that:
I think in sobriety, it’s all about one day at a time and that we’re not in control. And so that’s the way we’re looking at it.
