Happy’s Place just premiered Season 3 on NBC, and fans are thrilled to have Reba McEntire back on their screens. That being said, Reba McEntire was very close with the late icon, Dolly Parton, who passed away in August 2026. The sitcom is honoring Dolly, but when will this happen, and how will they do it? Keep reading for more details.
Happy’s Place To Honor Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton was not just a legendary singer, but she was also a well-known actress. She starred in films like 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias, and Straight Talk. Furthermore, she appeared on her close friend Reba McEntire’s self-titled sitcom as Dolly Majors. Sadly, she passed away in August 2026, and the world was shattered. She had tried to phone Reba beforehand, but the call was missed. They never connected, and Reba will never know what her dear friend wanted.

Now, Reba has another show of her own, Happy’s Place, where she plays Bobbie. It is in Season 3, and she is not letting another episode go by without honoring Dolly. The Friday, October 30th episode will close with a photo of the two ladies and the caption:
We will always love you.
Reba McEntire was in the middle of filming the new season when she learned of Dolly’s passing. Knowing how close the two were, she was immediately inundated with messages of sympathy:
And everybody was like, ‘Reba, we’re so sorry.’ I said, ‘Don’t say you’re sorry, this gal’s going on. She knows where she’s going. It’s a huge celebration.’ But I felt her with me the whole day.

Since Dolly Parton was not a part of Happy’s Place, this is the best way for Reba and her co-stars to honor her late friend. Moreover, it gives a moment of pause for someone who meant so much to the community.
Reba Keeps Singing
At the Emmys, Reba McEntire was the one to sing in honor of Dolly Parton. She showed up again at the CMA tribute for Dolly and blew the roof off. Reba is always there to ensure that her late friend gets the recognition she deserves. They had a beautiful bond, although Reba joked that she never tasted Dolly’s food or met her husband.
