On Saturday, August 15, 2020, Country superstars Luke Bryan and Darius Rucker performed together at the Grand Ole Opry. However, since the coronavirus pandemic is still occurring, there are some changes to the experience. For example, there is no live audience. Additionally, performers and staff are required to follow social distancing guidelines. Ultimately, this includes wearing a mask.

The show was aired live on WSM-AM, the Circle Network, and corresponding YouTube channels and Facebook pages, reports Taste of Country. The performance, as posted by the Circle Network, can be found below. During which, Darius Rucker played “Alright,” “Wagon Wheel,” and “Beers and Sunshine.” Additionally, Luke Bryan sang his hits, “Play It Again,” “One Margarita,” “Born Here Live Here Die Here.”
With that being said, the set was over an hour long. At about an hour and a half into the set, Bryan and Rucker stunned fans with a cover of Brooks & Dunn’s 1991 hit, “Neon Moon.” This moving performance was the final song. Both Bryan and Rucker admit that while their version is good- it “isn’t Ronnie Dunn good.”
True Country fans know that the song was written by Ronnie Dunn. ET Canada writes that “Neon Moon” was the duo’s third consecutive No. 1 single on the Country charts. Consequently, the track is also the third song released off their album Brand New Man.
What’s the future hold for Brooks & Dunn?
Sadly, Brooks & Dunn were set to hit the road again for the first time in 10 years when the coronavirus pandemic put a wrench in everyone’s plans reports USA Today. Initially, the tour was scheduled for 18 cities. The tour would have begun in St. Louis and wrapped up in Chicago.

In addition to this, the duo was set to begin a Vegas residency with Country music powerhouse, Reba McEntire, in October 2020. Sadly, the trio announced that their residency is canceled, and refunds are being issued reports The Music Universe. It is uncertain at this time if the residency will be rescheduled.

However, there is good news amid all of the cancellations. Rebe McEntire and Cayley Hammack will have an arena tour in 2021. Excitingly, Brooks & Dunn anticipate going on tour in 2021. There are reports that a variety of artists will join the duo for this monumental tour.
While it is glaringly apparent that Summer 2020 isn’t going according to anyone’s plans, it is reassuring to know that our favorite Country artists are making the most out of these unusual times. Be it linking up with their friend and fellow Country musician to cover an icon song, or postponing a career milestone tour; there is always a silver lining.
