If his singing career doesn’t work out, Jelly Roll can always pivot to professional wrestling. He just teamed up with the WWE for an exciting promotion for the upcoming SummerSlam event. Keep reading for the complete details.
Jelly Roll & His Music Dominate SummerSlam Promo
WWE’s SummerSlam event is something fans of professional wrestling look forward to all year. The matches at SummerSlam can predict who will headline at Wrestlemania the next year. But the event is more than just wrestling matches. In an unforgettable moment, wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage married his manager, the lovely Miss Elizabeth, at the 1991 PPV.
The WWE has long paired with celebrities outside the ring to help promote professional wrestling. In fact, many celebrities (and even future Presidents) have gone inside the ring to join the fray or be on the receiving end of a Stone Cold Stunner.
SummerSlam 2024 is just three weeks away. Jelly Roll took to his Instagram to share a promo he cut for the event. The WWE is using two of his biggest hits as the theme songs for the event – “Dead End Road” from the newly releases Twisters movie and “Liar,” from Jelly Roll’s upcoming album.
The promo features Jelly Roll daydreaming about becoming a professional wrestler himself, complete with his own line of protein bars, which was reminiscent with Macho Man’s collaboration with Slim Jim snack food.
Much to the delight of his fans, the video also showcases Bussie, the two year old Basset Hound who accompanies Jelly Roll on tour.
He Teases Surprise Appearance At The Event
SummerSlam airs live from Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, August 3 at 8 PM Eastern. The event will stream live on Peacock for premium subscribers. Could Jelly Roll make a surprise appearance?
At the end of the promo video, he said that he hopes to go back to his dream where he was a professional wrestler. According to Billboard, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H (real name Paul Levesque) asked the singer to “let him know” if he’s available to to play a few songs at SummerSlam 2024. It’s possible he could even do more than just sing.
It wouldn’t be the first time the “Save Me” singer showed up on the WWE. He previously made several surprise appearances, including on WWE Raw in 2023 to help out wrestler Randy Orton.
