The voting for the 2025 Grammys has already kicked off and music artists everywhere are starting their consideration campaigns. Country star Zach Bryan, though, has decided to sit this one out. Read on to see why he’s making this bold decision.
Zach Bryan Backs Out Of The Grammys
Zach recently revealed that he decided to withdraw his own music from the upcoming Grammys. This means that the recording academy can’t consider him for any nominations for the 2025 ceremony.
Bryan has boycotted the award show for one reason and one reason only: competition. He feels as though the Grammy’s has just become one big competition amongst artists, and that’s not the point of being a musician.
His decision comes at a shocking time in his career. He just released his successful album The Great American Bar Race a few months ago. Now the project is completely off limits from receiving nominations for the Grammys.
So far, he’s the only music artist who has chosen to pull out from the new ceremony. Only time will tell if his peers join in on the boycott with him.
Zach Bryan’s Grammy History
The country artist choosing to skip next year’s award show is surprising, considering he is already a Grammy winner.
In the 2024 ceremony, Zach took home a Grammy win for “I Remember Everything”, his popular duet with Kacey Musgraves. It marked his first-ever Grammy win and Musgraves’ seventh. The award wasn’t included in the television broadcast.
This was the same event where Bryan and his girlfriend Brianna Chickenfry made their red carpet debut as a couple.
The year before that, Zach was nominated for his single “Something in the Orange.” Needless to say, he was in the recording academy’s good graces before this boycott.
It’s unclear if he’s planning to just withdraw his music for the 2025 Grammys or indefinitely. Would the recording academy even take his music into consideration in the future after taking this stand against them?
People Are Supporting Him
Zach is a fairly controversial artist. Back in 2023 he got into it with highway patrol, to the point that the authorities arrested him.
Then, there was the recent drama he caused when he wrote on social media that Kanye West is better than Taylor Swift.
All this being said, when it comes to pushing back against the Grammys, people seem to be on his side for once.
In a Reddit thread, people shared their opinions on Bryan’s boycott and most were giving him credit where it was due. Here are a few of the comments:
