Gwen Stefani is known for her iconic looks. Ever since the news of her wedding to Blake Shelton, fans have been wondering what the No Doubt singer planned to wear. She set the trends when she wore a pink wedding dress when she married her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. This time around, she decided to wear not one but two wedding dresses.
She’s making it count. Vera Wang is the designer behind both looks. Gwen’s wedding dress featured a motif dedicated to Blake and her two children. It makes sense that Gwen would choose Vera Wang since she’s known for her signature wedding gowns.
The details behind both wedding dresses
Vera Wang made sure to infuse the pop star’s personality into both wedding dresses. Gwen Stefani wore a custom-made silk-georgette gown that featured a fitted bodice with a sweetheart silhouette and a high low tulle skirt. She wore her signature platinum blonde hair up for the ceremony. Her long locks were neatly tucked underneath her long white veil, which included the names of Gwen, Blake, and Gwen’s sons, Kingston James, 15, Zuma Nesta, 12, and Apollo Bowie, 7.
Her sons also took part in her reception dress. She wore a short white dress that had a similar bodice. The skirt was accented with crystal and sequin foliage as well as hand-sewn love birds. It symbolized Gwen and Blake’s love for one another. The hand tumbled tulle strapless mini was made from lily-white Italian silk crepe material.
There were also three baby love birds, which symbolized Gwen’s three sons. She paired off the look with white cowboy boots by Le Silla and a shorter veil that featured a big white bow and floral appliques. The “Slow Clap” singer finished it off with a cross necklace, gold bangle bracelets, and diamond earrings.
Gwen shared the look on Instagram. “You need a party dress when you get to marry Blake Shelton,” she captioned the black-and-white photo of her reception dress. Gwen took to her Instagram Stories to share many more photos of both of her wedding dresses. The happy couple got married on July 3, 2021, not on the Fourth of July as previously assumed.
Vera Wang worked with Gwen Stefani before
This isn’t the first time that Gwen Stefani wore one of Vera Wang’s prized dresses. She custom-made her white gown for the 2019 People’s Choice Awards when she accepted the Fashion Icon Award. At the time, Gwen wore a white hi-low strapless dress that featured an oversized black bow. She finished off the look with black fishnet stockings, black thigh-high boots, and velvet black gloves.
On her dress, the words “Fashion Icon” were embroidered in the font that Gwen used for her Love. Angel. Music. Baby. album cover. In her acceptance speech, Gwen talked about her relationship with fashion. She admitted that she used to “hate fashion” and that it was just “for the rich people.” Now, she’s fortunate to have learned and worked with so many designers over the years.
Gwen and Blake wed over the weekend in an intimate ceremony. This comes eight months after the news of their engagement in October 2020. Both Gwen and Blake shared many photos from their wedding at the country star’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
