Dolly Parton is one of the most iconic performers in all of country music. She is also known for her acting and sparkling personality. In recent years, she has also ventured into pet merchandise, baking mix, and much more. The seventy-six-year-old is living her best life but she has decided to stop one thing. As much as fans adore going to see Dolly perform live, those days may be over. Read on to see what she had to say about her future in touring.
Dolly Parton Makes Huge Tour Announcement
The country icon spoke with Pollstar. The topic of her working on a rock ‘n’ roll record came up. Naturally, they asked her about touring again, seeing that Dolly had something new and exciting in the works. Sadly, it seems that the singer’s days on the road have come to an end. “I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore,” Dolly shared.
She went on to add that she has been touring for so long that she wants to be close to home. Parton especially noted that she wants to be near her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. She admitted that they are older now and anything can happen so she does not want to be away for an extended period of time. However, fans can see her both on TV and on the big screen.
She will be doing something for Christmas on NBC though she claims the character is very much like her own persona. Then, Dolly will take on a lead role in Run, Rose, Run based on the bestselling book she wrote with James Patterson. “We’re doing a movie with that, working with Reese Witherspoon, her company’s producing it. I am going to be doing that.” Needless to say, there won’t be a true lack of Dolly.
An Icon Who Cares
Just the other day, Dolly Parton was in the news for a beautiful tribute she sent out to the late Leslie Jordan. He died in a car wreck Monday, October 24th after suffering a medical emergency. The two had worked on a song together and formed a lovely bond. He was always in awe of her, especially after they first met. She seemed just as blessed to have been able to know and work with the multi-talented performer. That’s just who Dolly is as a person. A delight.
