Country star George Strait’s concert was cut short due in Nashville on Saturday. After the success of his opening night on Friday, fans were excited to watch George Strait perform again. However, after a late start, the show was eventually canceled. Here’s what happened.

George Strait Concert Cut Short Due to Storms in Nashville

Fans of the King of Country were left disappointed on Saturday when a storm rolled in, making it impossible for the 71-year-old country star to carry on performing. Strait was scheduled to perform two nights at the Nissan Stadium, Nashville, with each concert lasting over two hours and filled with 33 songs. Performing the opening acts for the concert was Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town. Nashville’s show was only one of 6 stops for the country star, making it a rare opportunity to watch him perform live.

Saturday night’s opening was initially delayed an hour before starting time. This was due to the first shelter-in-place warning that the Nashville Severe Weather reporters sent out. This warning was lifted in time for the opening acts to perform at the original start time of 5:45 pm. However, a second warning was issued by the time Strait was due to perform. George Strait had only performed for more than an hour, starting at 8:45 pm, before the concert was canceled at 10 pm.

Strait continued to perform during the rain, proving why he’s called the King of Country. However, by 9:50 pm, when lightning showed up, officials from the Nissan Stadium announced on Twitter that the show was concluded.

Fans Left Disappointed

Many fans were left disappointed after the George Strait show was cut short after Strait only performed 14 of the 33 songs that were originally planned for the show. Some fans expressed their disappointment at the lack of planning and communication regarding the cancellation. One fan said, “Absolutely ridiculous. We paid thousands of dollars to fly in and on these concert tickets. Refunds are necessary. This was poor planning. The openers should have been cut. George didn’t even play half a setlist. The storm was on the horizon for hours…..”

While another fan called the poor management at Nissan Stadium, writing, “YOU’VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS ALL DAY. WHY DIDN’T YOU PULL THE OPENERS? YOU OWE EVERYONE A REFUND. NEVER EVER SEEN SUCH A POORLY MANAGED EVENT.”

Many concertgoers agreed that the opening acts should have been cut short, and while Little Big Town did cut their set, Chris Stapleton still performed his full set of 18 songs.

What do you think of the decision not to cut Christ Stapleton’s set short? Do you think they should have pulled the opening acts to allow Strait to perform his two-hour show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
