In a recent interview, Tim McGraw opened up about his 15 years of sobriety. Glowing with praise, McGraw credited his wife Faith Hill for helping him stay sober.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill: A Love Story For The Ages
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are both country legends in their own right. But together they make one of the music industry’s greatest love stories. After 27 years of marriage, McGraw is still as in love as he has ever been.
During a candid interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Tim McGraw applauded Hill for the incredible support she has shown him throughout their relationship.
Speaking on the longevity of their marriage, McGraw quipped that they have been together for “92 years in showbiz language; it’s like dog years.”
Hey Whiskey
The interview was intended to promote McGraw’s newest album. But it seems the singer couldn’t help but take the opportunity to cheer on his wife.
McGraw’s newest record, “Standing Room Only,” will be his 16th studio album. It’s slated for release on August 25th, 2023.
Speaking with the Tennessean in June, McGraw said the album consisted of “Some of the most emotional, thought-provoking, and life-affirming music I’ve ever recorded.”
One song on the album, “Hey Whiskey,” is a ballad detailing the “destruction and regret that comes with heavy drinking.”
The song shows just how much growth McGraw has made since becoming sober in 2008. Though her name isn’t listed as one of the writers, “Hey Whiskey” probably wouldn’t exist without help from Faith Hill.
“She’s Always Been My Rock”
While discussing “Hey Whiskey,” McGraw highlighted how important the support of his wife has been in remaining sober. “She’s always been my rock… I don’t think I could stand up straight without leaning on her in everything that I do.”
McGraw acknowledged that sobriety hasn’t always been easy. “It is not a linear path… That’ll probably be a process throughout the rest of my life and something that I have to be diligent about.” Fortunately, with help from Hill, he has been able to weather the storm.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Famous Duet
In the same interview, McGraw spoke about how important the song “It’s Your Love” has been for his and Hill’s relationship. “We were very early in our relationship,” he said of the duet, which “brought us together in a way that I don’t know what else could have.”
McGraw reminisced on the filming of the music video, which Hill was pregnant during. “That was such a special time and a special moment.”

McGraw cheekily capped off the interview by wishing for “Ninetey-two more years!”
