Why Is Luke Bryan Defending Katy Perry?
It’s no secret of Luke Bryan’s success in country music. He’s been here for a long time, making his way into the music scene in 2007. His debut single, “All My Friends Say,” reached number five on the Hot Country Songs chart. Ever since then, Luke has made his way to the top, becoming a big star. But when he is not singing and touring the country, what is he doing? He is judging other people’s vocals on American Idol. Wow, that’s a lot of pressure that comes with this new role.

When American Idol rebranded and found a new home on ABC, it also got three brand new judges. Musical legend Lionel Richie, singer Katy Perry and, of course, Luke Bryan. They have been on the show together since 2018. It looks like this trio complements one another. They also defend each other when it comes to the harsh critics out there.
As a judge on the popular show, you are met with millions of viewers watching, not to mention the audience in the building with you. This is no easy job, and it comes with consequences. In regards to Katy Perry, she’s a witness to that. Even being picked on by social media.

So What Happened With Katy Perry?
In an interview at the Country Music Association Fest, Luke Bryan came to Katy’s defense. “Katy Perry’s been dealing with stuff like that her whole career.” He went on to say, “We get set up”. “As judges, you know, we kind of fall on the sword a lot of time”. This is due to the negative comments Katy has received for her judging skills.
Luke continues on, “My thing is, I think when me and Lionel and Katy sit down at the desk, in our hearts, we’re doing the best we can.” Judging is a hard thing to do, either way the results won’t be in someone’s favor. So all you can do is be fair to people and have an unbiased opinion.
But all of the hate won’t be stopping Katy any time soon. Along with fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, she is coming back for season 22 of American Idol. ABC made this announcement last month and the new season is scheduled to come back in the Spring of 2024. The show will always be a favorite, and whether people love it or love criticizing it, it will continue to get everyone talking about it.
