Jelly Roll recently played at a jail and he hoped to inspire addicts and inmates through music. As many may be well aware, he was once in the juvenile detention system. Then, he did time behind bars but has since turned his life around and is giving back every chance that he gets. This happens to be one of those very special times. Read on for more details.
Jelly Roll Plays Jail, Inspires Addicts Through Music
Despite what Jelly Roll went through in his past, he has never let it hold him back from helping others who need it the most. In fact, it seems that it is his struggles that have inspired him to seek out certain opportunities. Other times, they just happen to find him. Though he does understand that there are many people from his previous life who don’t forgive him, he understands this. JR knows he has done a lot of wrong but moving ahead, he has done so many amazing selfless things.
According to Whiskey Riff, the country superstar just played the Chesterfield County Jail in Virginia. Their HARP (Helping Addicts Recovery Progressively) chapter has been on a mission. They have been aggressively posting to TikTok with the hopes of getting Jelly Roll to come by and play. This makes sense as he did have a show in the area so it was not as if he would be going out of his way. Furthermore, HARP’s sole mission is to inspire and maintain sobriety among inmates. When he arrived, he was so moved by the reception he received.

“I heard y’all “Need A Favor…” I was watching on TikTok before y’all started calling for me. I don’t even think y’all realize the impact that you all are having. When I was here, we didn’t have a program like this. We didn’t have people like us come talk to us. Can we play some music with the boys?” Jelly Roll then went on to perform after referencing his second number-one country single.
Not The First Time
This is not the first time Jelly Roll popped into a prison to spread love and positivity. He stopped by the one he had been in and sang some Johnny Cash. Additionally, he made a terminally ill woman who was also recovering from addiction, dreams come true. He and his wife, Bunnie stopped by and gave her a private concert. She had done amazing work to help others once she helped herself so it is clear if JR sees an important cause, he will do his best to give back.
What do you think of Jelly Roll’s latest move? Does this inspire you to want to give back to others more? Let us know in the comments below.
