The Voice fans were stunned when Tom Nitti unexpectedly quit the show. Now he shares more about his decision and his future plans.
Tom Nitti Gets Reba McEntire’s Attention
Tom Nitti is a former New York State trooper from upstate New York who hoped to become the next winner of The Voice. The New Hartford, NY, native performed Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” in the blind auditions, but only one red chair turned.
Reba McEntire was impressed by Nitti’s rendition of the song and turned her chair at the last minute, making him a member of Team Reba.
His journey on the singing competition continued through the Battle and Knockout rounds. However, his time on The Voice abruptly ended last month when he left the show for “personal reasons.”

Abrupt The Voice Exit Explained
Tom Nitti’s initial explanation for quitting the show was vague, but he recently revealed all to his local hometown paper, the Utica Observer-Dispatch.
He told the outlet that family trouble was the behind his departure. More specifically, an ongoing custody battle with his ex. He filed for divorce a few months before competing on the NBC reality show.
He told the outlet that during the competition, he “received an email from my lawyers urging me to come home because my ex-wife was going after primary custody.”
He chose his family over his dream of a music career. And it wasn’t the first time.
He was originally a contestant on Season 23 but deferred until Season 24 because of his children.
While Tom Nitti may not be part of Team Reba on The Voice any longer, he revealed that he’s still in touch with the legendary singer.
