Elle King has halted a handful of performances in the wake of recent drunken humiliation. The singer showed up as a guest at Dolly Parton’s birthday party. Yet, she made a complete fool of herself and seemingly did not care. Now it seems she is paying the price for that. Read on for more details.

Elle King Halts Performances In Wake Of Drunken Humiliation

The Grand Ole Opry held a tribute to Dolly Parton for her 78th birthday and it was all about love. For the special night, eventgoers were promised this:

“Opry Goes Dolly will celebrate Opry member Dolly Parton, country music’s greatest global ambassador and an artist who takes the Opry with her wherever she goes. While Parton will not appear in-person, this special Friday night show, in celebration of the icons birthday, will feature guest artists performing their favorite Dolly hits, Dolly-themed events, photo-ops on the Plaza and more.”

Elle King took the stage, as promised but she gave a less than enviable performance. The singer was drunk and did not even try to hide it.

The thirty-four-year-old said: “Hi, my name is Elle King, I’m f***ing hammered.”According to Country Rebel, she also was in the process of singing “Marry Me” but clearly realized she was messing up. It was not so much that she just messed up the song but actually forgot the lyrics. This was a tribute to Dolly Parton and she blatantly sang: “I don’t know the lyrics to these things in this f***ing town … Don’t tell Dolly ‘cause it’s her birthday.”

To make matters worse, she was cursing incessantly. Now, the Opry has its shows broadcast on the radio therefore there is to be no foul language. Elle broke that rule repeatedly due to her drunkenness. She has since halted shows that followed the Dolly celebration. One was to take place on Friday, January 26th at Bill Bob’s Texas. It has been moved all of the way to September. Additionally, Elle has moved three more dates: Shipshewana, Indiana (February 22), Waukegan, Illinois (February 25), and Harris, Michigan (February 23 and 24.).

Fans Are Livid

Of course, Dolly Parton fans have been tweeting up a storm as they respect her so much as an artist. They cannot believe that Elle King would be so rude on this very special night.

What do you think of Elle’s performance? Should she apologize directly to Dolly Parton or should she be forgiven for making a giant snafu? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
