While the calendar counts down the days to Dolly Parton’s 78th birthday on Friday, January 19, the country music marvel displays her typical gift for candor. As her faithful fans engage in a race to Walmart to gather up any and every piece of her new partyware line, the mogul minces no words in detailing her plastic surgery protocols.

Of course, Dolly Parton is always ready for a party, as her Celebrate With Dolly line proves. However, when it comes to plastic surgery, the Two Doors Down artist prefers to take things a bit at a time. Read on for more details on all things Dolly.

Even for Dolly Parton, things aren’t always seamless

Way back in 2020, Country Music Alley profiled an in-depth chat between Dolly Parton and Oprah Winfrey for The Oprah Conversations on Apple+ TV. The two legends in their fields weighed the sacrifices of success, including not having children, along with other life choices.

“I’ll look as young as my plastic surgeons will allow me to,” Parton freely confessed. In turn, the timeless songwriter teased that “I’m gonna look like a cartoon,” in striving to maintain her youth. In truth, the Shine songwriter knows full well that beauty and youth are “about what comes from inside you.” Her inner core values have never wavered from Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain upbringing in Tennessee. Nonetheless, she does know the trauma of plastic surgery procedures.

“Every now and then you’ll get a hematoma “ (a severe bruise) or sometimes with “fillers and Botox, you’ll get too much and have to wait till the swelling goes down to look normal again,” the dynamic Dolly Parton describes. The difference means that instead of returning to work in two weeks, it takes a month. This slight extension makes all the difference for in-demand performers.

When the need is clear

In her recent interview with the UK’s Saga Magazine, Dolly Parton puts it plainly that anything on her body not looking up to the Backwoods Barbies standards necessitates a procedure. “If something’s bagging, sagging, or dragging,” Dolly insists “I’ll tuck it, suck it, or pluck it.”

Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, Parton reiterated that she does use fillers, such as Juvaderm and Botox, but that “I try to do just little bits at a time– I don’t do really big stuff.” Dolly cautions that “anytime you go under the knife, you could come out not looking good.” The global ambassador for doing good further implores to “find the best doctors” in the local area and weigh the risk depending on age and other health considerations.

Naturally, Dolly Parton maintains that “I ain’t got time to be old.” Additionally,  “I can’t stop long enough to grow old.”  On that front, she and her old friend, Willie Nelson, are compadres.

Dolly isn’t the only one getting plucked

Regarding diet and exercise, Dolly Parton relents that “I’m not much for exercise–I do just enough to get by.” Regarding her diet, the country girl isn’t about to turn from her ways, especially when her chicken and dumplings are good enough to draw world renown.

No one knows the delights of Southern comfort food like Dolly Parton. The lady from Sevier County, Tennessee agrees with many other folks who know that boiling the “whole bird” is the secret to a steaming bowl of irresistible chicken and dumplings.

The country queen infuses a slow-cook method with onion, salt, pepper, and celery flakes into her recipe. Along with the star ingredient broken into pieces to provide a bite of chicken in every spoonful. Very early on, Dolly Parton learned that food and a family-style meal are a representation of togetherness. May we all sing, celebrate, and savor the sense of togetherness from her for many years to come.
