Darius Rucker has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons following a recent drug arrest. In the aftermath of that, one of his exes came forward to rub salt in the wound. So, what did this estranged ex of the Hootie & the Blowfish singer have to say about him?
Darius Rucker Arrested On Drug Charges In Tennessee
Country Music Alley was one of the first to report Darius Rucker’s recent drug arrest in Tennessee. The Wagon Wheel singer was arrested on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance on February 1. Rucker also violated one of Tennessee’s vehicle registration laws.
TMZ alleged that Rucker had expired tags on his vehicle, which could be what led authorities to stop him in the first place. They released the country singer on a $10,500 bond. According to his lawyer, he has been fully cooperating with authorities.
Darius Rucker’s Career Got A Second Wind As A Country Singer
These days, it’s not unheard of for artists who are successful in other genres to make the jump over to country music. Notably, Aaron Lewis of Staind fame is another example of an artist who has had crossover success with different audiences.
Following his success in the 90s with Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker reinvented himself as a country star, which has worked out rather well for him so far. Rucker has several country albums to his credit, and he has carved out another successful career for himself while still playing shows with the band that put him on the map.

Rucker’s Ex Comes Out Of The Woodwork To Trash Him Following Arrest
In light of Darius Rucker’s recent arrest, a former lover recently came out of the woodwork to kick her former flame while he was down. According to his jilted ex, Kate Quigley, the comedian and actor had a lot to say about her former beau’s recent arrest. Based on what she had to say, she didn’t pull any punches, either.
Darius Rucker became social media official with the comedian and actor in September of 2020, however, by 2021, the pair split. Judging by comments Quigley recently made, she is clearly still bitter about her ex and the way things ended between the pair.
“All I can say is Karma,” Quigley responded. In a now-deleted tweet, she shared a picture of herself in a bikini, including the caption: “Mood when you hear your d-bag ex got arrested.”
Darius Rucker and Kate Quigley may have split years ago, but, it’s obvious that whatever went down between them, his ex is still bitter over it. The good news for Rucker is that his recent charges are only minor offenses. Even if he still has scorned exes rooting against him, he has many more fans hoping for the best outcome for him so he can get back out on the road.
