Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi was honored at a gala this weekend ahead of Sunday’s Grammy Awards. Country singer Jelly Roll rocked the stage with one of the band’s classic hits. Keep reading for all the details.

Jon Bon Jovi Named MusiCares Person Of The Year

Bon Jovi is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the music industry this year. Hulu recently announced an upcoming documentary about the ’80s hair band. Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will air on the streamer in April.

When he’s not making music, Bon Jovi lead singer Jon Bon Jovi lends a helping hand to those in need. Alongside his wife Dorothea, Jon Bon Jovi operates three JBJ Soul Kitchen food pantry locations in New Jersey through his JBJ Soul Foundation.

The singer/philanthropist is the MusiCares 2024 Person of the Year. He was honored during a gala on Friday, February 2. Multiple musicians took the stage to honor the Bon Jovi founder by performing some of the band’s greatest hits.

JBJ’s long-time friend Bruce Springsteen was in attendance, despite losing his mother a few days ago. The two performed “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” and “Promised Land” before other artists took the stage.

Jelly Roll has had a monumental year. He is up for his first Grammy at the 2024 ceremony. He’s nominated for Best New Artist and Best Country Group/Duo Performance for his collaboration with Lainey Wilson.

The country singer got his start in the music industry as a rapper. But he showed off his inner rock star with a rousing performance of Bon Jovi’s 1988 hit “Bad Medicine.”

Sadly, the MusiCares gala was a private event, and footage of Jelly Roll’s performance has yet to leak online. According to Rolling Stone, Jelly Roll said, “You’re the f**king man, Bon Jovi,” as he walked off stage.

Other performers at the event included Melissa Ethridge, Lainey Wilson, Shania Twain, and Jason Isbell.

Jelly Roll took to Twitter after his performance to gush over being in the same room as some of the greatest musicians of his time.

Just sang a Bon Jovi song in front of Bon Jovi while he sat next to Springsteen and McCartney – my mom isn’t going to believe this,” he wrote about the astounding experience.
