Toby Keith passed away February 5, 2024. The “American Soldier” singer lost his battle with stomach cancer and left this world too soon. People around the world are mourning his passing. Carrie Underwood is just one of countless others who took to social media to express their sadness over the death of Toby Keith.

Carrie Underwood’s Tribute To Toby Keith

The tribute to Toby Keith Carrie Underwood posted on her Instagram account was written as if she were talking directly to Jesus. “Saddle up the horses, Jesus, ‘cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!” Underwood said. “Introduce him to all the Okies and sign that boy up for the choir!”

Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith, both from Oklahoma, grew up in towns just a few hours apart. Underwood in Checotah, Oklahoma and Keith in Moore, Oklahoma. Both grew up in Oklahoma churches and started their country music careers in the red dirt of their home state.

Toby Keith won numerous awards for all his contributions to country music. He was known to pair with other superstars like Merle Haggard, also with Oklahoma roots, to perform. His stage presence was unmatched. Toby Keith was truly a large part of the heart of country music.

Toby Keith made countless USO trips overseas to visit American troops. Many of those trips were close to the frontlines, just miles away from actual combat. This didn’t bother Keith. He felt it was his duty to be there for the military as they were there for him and all other Americans.

It is clear Carrie Underwood is standing on her faith through this dark time in her life and, honestly, for the rest of the world. “We’re gonna miss you, Toby, but my heart has no doubt that you are standing in the presence of our King right now!!!” Carrie Underwood said in her Instagram post. “See you again someday, friend.”
