Billy Ray Cyrus filed to annul his marriage to Firerose in May 2024. They married in October 2023 after a yearlong engagement. Their whirlwind romance came to a halt with the divorce filing and subsequent allegations from both sides. But Cyrus just scored a huge win in their legal battle. Keep reading for all the details.
‘Achy Breaky Heart’ Singer’s Divorce Drama
Billy Ray Cyrus is no rookie when it comes to divorce. He was previously married twice before. He was married to Cindy Smith from 1986 until 1991. The country crooner was married to Tish Cyrus for nearly 30 years before splitting up in 2022. They share five children together, including pop star Miley Cyrus.
Rumors of a romance with singer Firerose began in the summer of 2022, shortly after his divorce from Tish. However, they actually met each other years earlier on the set of Hannah Montana, in which Billy Ray Cyrus starred on alongside daughter Miley.
The romance between Firerose and Billy Ray Cyrus burned hot and fast. But their engagement turned out to last longer than their actual marriage. The “Some Gave All” singer filed to end the marriage after just seven months.
He filed for an annulment on the grounds of fraud. The divorce immediately became messy as both sides made serious allegations. Firerose accused Billy Ray Cyrus of abuse, while he alleged that she was stealing his money. He filed for an emergency restraining order earlier this month to prevent her from using his credit cards.
Billy Ray Cyrus Gets Big Win In Legal Battle With Firerose
The legal battle is far from over, but Billy Ray Cyrus scored at least one legal victory over his estranged wife. A judge approved the restraining order, ruling that Firerose can no longer use credit cards in her estranged husband’s name.
According to PEOPLE magazine, Cyrus alleges that Firerose racked up over $96,000 in charges on his cards in a two-week span after he filed for divorce in May. She claimed that she was entitled to use the cards as they were marital property. But the judge disagreed.
The judge also ordered the two to “exchange income and expense statements as well as asset and liability statements” by a deadline of July 11. The former couple was also ordered to attend mediation by the end of August.
While the country singer scored a win against his ex, the divorce is still a long way from being finalized.
