Despite nearly two decades in the music industry, Carrie Underwood continues to reach new heights. She took over the number one spot on an unexpected chart. Keep reading for all the details.
Carrie Underwood Returning To Her Roots
When Katy Perry announced she was leaving American Idol, the show reportedly had several musicians angling for the job. But they went with someone very familiar to audiences and the singing competition. Twenty years after her first audition, Carrie Underwood is returning to American Idol as a judge for Season 23 in 2025.
No other American Idol winner has reached the heights as Carrie Underwood (Season 4) or Kelly Clarkson (Season 1.) Country artist Mickey Guyton recently called the show out for discarding her. Many fans think Carrie Underwood will bring new life to the floundering show.
Country Singer Hits #1 On Unexpected Chart
The list of Carrie Underwood’s number one songs on the Billboard country charts is in the double digits. She has 14 number one hits to her name on the Hot Country Charts, plus 16 on the County Airplay charts.
Her collaboration with a rock band took her to the top of two unexpected charts. Carrie Underwood duets with Papa Roach on their song “Leave a Light On (Take Away The Dark).” The song quickly moved to the number one spot on the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts.
While the American Idol alum has performed on stage with Guns ‘N Roses often over the last few years, she’s never officially released a song with them. She previously reached number one on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart in 2021 for her collaboration with Needtobreathe on their song “I Wanna Remember.”
However, this is her first time on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart. According to Forbes, the money from “Leave a Light On” will go to suicide prevention nonprofits.
Carrie Underwood Extends Residency Again
Carrie Underwood is one of the few popular country albums not included in Post Malone’s first country album. But she’s clearly been pretty busy with her other collaborations and Las Vegas residency.
The “Cry Pretty” singer joined other artists, such as Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, in taking her voice to Las Vegas. REFLECTION: THE LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY began in 2021 and was supposed to end this year.
But the Resorts World venue announced earlier this month that the residency will now extend into early next year. Six more dates were added for March and April 2025.
