Who Is Lainey Wilson’s NFL Boyfriend?
It’s hard to keep your romance private when you’re in the public eye. But singer Lainey Wilson showed that it is possible. Most people didn’t even know she was dating someone when she took her boyfriend to the 2023 ACM Awards as her plus one. It was then she revealed that she’d been dating former NFL player Devlin “Duck” Hodges for two years.
According to Penn Live, Hodges played with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a year before getting cut in 2020. He went on to sign with the Los Angeles Rams and then the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Redblacks. He retired from professional football in 2022 and is now a real estate agent.

Lainey Wilson sat with Zane Lowe from Apple Music 1 for an interview earlier this week. She didn’t shy away from answering questions about her boyfriend. The “Heart Like a Truck” singer previously said that they intentionally keep their relationship private to keep it “sacred.”
She revealed that they began dating when Devlin “Duck” Hodges still played for the Steelers. Her career was just taking off at the time, which took them in different directions.
“We met at a time where he was still playing with them, but then it all changed. So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions….”
Elsewhere in the interview, Lainey Wilson admitted that her relationship isn’t “normal” because they don’t see each other as often. “But we also know that what we have is very special,” she added.
Lainey Wilson Gushes Over Her Beau
The Grammy winner knows she has a good one. She gushed during the interview about how her boyfriend supports her dreams and career in country music.
“I finally found a guy that gives me a run for my money. And he’s my biggest cheerleader. He’s just a good person. And he knows how important chasing down a dream is because even when he was a little boy, football was his life.”
However, she said that fans shouldn’t expect any mushy love songs. That’s just not who she is.
