Luckily for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani fans, more details about their relationship are coming out. It goes without saying that The Voice coaches are one of America’s favorite couples. And it seems like there is more to their love story than fans are aware of.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani had a lot of ‘healing to do’
While Gwen Stefani may have been caught off guard by Blake Shelton’s proposal, People reports that Stefani says getting engaged came with “a lot to consider.” At one point Gwen Stefani “was beginning to wonder about the state of their relationship,” according to Today. According to The Tonight Show Twitter, Stefani says, “I gotta tell you, I was sorta like, ‘what’s happening with us?!’”
While virtually appearing on Today, Hoda Kotb doesn’t hold back when asking hard-hitting questions. For example, she asks Stefani if she “was gun shy” about getting engaged to Shelton. This is a reasonable assumption. This is because the pair pretty much go through their divorces at the same time.

Gwen Stefani seems pretty candid when it comes to her answer. “I think there was a lot to consider when you have so many people involved. Children, and their hearts, and everybody in my family [and] his family, we all went through a lot together,” share the former frontwoman of No Doubt.
Why did it take Blake so long to propose to Gwen?
The “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” singer shares more behind-the-scenes details about her love story with Blake Shelton. “So I think in a romantic way when you fall in love so hard and so unexpectedly — and so late in your life — you think ‘I want to marry you!’ That’s the first romantic reaction, like, ‘Let’s get married,” she shares. Consequently, Stefani goes on to say that they “always talked about it” but somehow with the passing years, “it didn’t need to happen.” Which makes sense considering that friends of the couple share the Stefani regularly refers to Shelton as her husband. At one point, this fuels rumors that the duo is already married. Ultimately, Gwen Stefani shares, “There was a lot of healing to do.”
However, fans all known know that the proposal went off without a hitch. While there isn’t a wedding date that fans are aware of, it seems that the couple is waiting for things to be safer given ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
