Garth Brooks is standing his ground when it comes to the Bud Light controversy. The country music icon recently revealed whether he would serve the famous beer at his new Nashville bar opening this summer. However, what he had to say certainly brought about some backlash among his fans. What did they have to say? Keep reading to find out.
Garth Brooks takes a stand
In Nashville’s South Broadway District, Garth Brooks is opening up a new establishment called Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk. He sounds pretty excited about it in his recent interview with Billboard. The finishing touches are being added for the bar to have its grand opening sometime this summer. Garth is all about wanting his new bar to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and safe to enjoy themselves. He has also chosen to serve every kind of beer, including Bud Light, and he is not backing down on that.
The recent controversy over the brand’s decision to partner with transgender TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney has proven to be a hot topic. People are taking sides, including many celebrities and musical artists. Garth seems to be taking the side of everyone just getting along.
“Our thing is, if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a–hole, there are plenty of other places on Lower Broadway,” he said.
How are country music fans responding to his stance on serving Bud Light to his customers? It looks like many have not only chosen to boycott Garth’s new bar, but some are banning his music as well. The backlash is fierce. Here are just a handful of comments on social media.
- Well, no more Garth Brooks for me.
- I’ve just deleted all my Garth Brooks music files. Too woke for my blood…
- I won’t be listening to Garth Brooks from here on out. Just sayin…
However, the country legend seems to have gained more respect from others after they reading his stance on accommodating all people by serving all brands of beer. He is getting support from both fans of the genre and those who really don’t listen to his type of music.
“I am not a fan of country music, but Garth Brooks is my favorite person right now,” one supporter said.
John Rich gives his opinion
Fellow country music star John Rich gave his own opinions regarding Garth’s decision to serve Bud Light to his customers. He mentioned to Fox News that Garth has every right to sell whatever he wants in his own business. He added that he wishes him the best.
The Big & Rich musician is on the other side of the controversy. He has already pulled Bud Light from his Redneck Riviera Bar, located in lower Broadway that Garth was talking about.
What do you think of Garth Brooks’ decision to spread the love by serving all beer at his future bar? Does this change your opinion of him? Let us know in the comments below.
