Jelly Roll was on hand for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024. He came out and he performed for the special. However, his performance was something that some fans questioned. While many singers lip-sync at events like this, he refused to do so.

Here is what one fan said about the performance and Jelly Roll’s response on why he won’t lip sync.

Jelly Roll explains his thoughts on lip-syncing

When many performers take on big tasks, like the Super Bowl halftime performance or a New Year’s Eve performance, they usually have a track planned out and lip sync to it. This gives them a perfect performance, even if something goes wrong during the live event. Of course, many fans slam bands for lip-syncing, but for Jelly Roll that was never a concern.

Jelly Roll came out on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024 and he sang a medley of songs. It included his latest single, “Halfway To Hell” and his chart-topping hit, “Need a Favor.” He also sang “Wild Ones,” a song he collaborated on with Jessie Murph. He sang this on the Countdown Stage and it was all live.

However, when one fan made an offhand comment about it. Jelly Roll had the perfect comeback. “For sure – cause I am who I am all the time – I don’t hide behind anything. Good bad or indifferent,” he said (via Music Mayhem Magazine).

What did the fans think of Jelly Roll’s New Year’s Eve performance?

They wrote, “Jelly Roll choosing not to lip sync certainly was a choice.” That makes it sound like it might not have been the best choice.

Fans quickly came to the singer’s defense, even before he made his comment about the performance.

  • “It was an authentic choice and his fans love that.”
  • “Sounded good to me. Best act of the night actually.”
  • “Because he isn’t fake”

What did Jelly Roll say about New Year’s Eve?

As for the performance, Jelly Roll was happy to be there. He said during the performance it was a “dream come true” and he made sure to remain authentic during the performance. He also talked to Ryan Seacrest after he sang his songs and said he had big plans for 2024.

Jelly Roll admitted he had been watching the Dick Clark show since he was a kid. He said that it was a “crazy dream come true” and he said he was blessed. “I’ve come so far that God did not bless me this much, not to be a blessing baby. So as long as I’m blessed, I will bless.”
