Zac Brown’s Estranged Wife Hits Back In Nasty Divorce Battle
The divorce battle between Zac Brown and his estranged wife, Kelly Yazdi, is heating up. The couple announced their separation last year after just four months of marriage. “Our mutual respect for one another remains,” they wrote in a statement to TMZ after news of the separation broke in December 2023. That didn’t last long.
Just six months later, the gloves are off in a bitter legal fight after the Zac Brown Band frontman filed a restraining order. He filed an emergency petition in May asking the court to instruct his ex to take down a social media post. He claimed the post violated a non-disclosure agreement she signed during their relationship.
After his legal maneuver, she took to her Instagram to accuse him of using his fame to silence her. Her lengthy post revealed that the social media content he wanted removed was two poems she posted to her social media.
“No one — not even Zac Brown with all of his money, power, celebrity, and lawyers may silence my right to freely express myself through art or, although I have to date declined to do so publicly, to speak about the circumstances of our pending divorce.”
The judge denied the emergency restraining order but, according to In Touch, approved his request to seal some of the records in the ongoing divorce. Kelly Yazdi subsequently filed to unseal the records. The judge has yet to rule on that matter.

His Previous Marriage
Zac Brown was previously married to Shelly Brown. They were married for 12 years before divorcing in 2018. The country singer has five children with his first wife. Unlike his current divorce battle, his previous split was handled quietly without much legal drama. He continues to co-parent his kids with his ex-wife, Shelly.
The “Chicken Fried” singer is currently on tour with his band. But he isn’t the only country singer going through a very public divorce. Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose are duking it out in court amid mutual allegations of abuse and infidelity.
