Lorrie Morgan was one of the hottest country artists throughout the 1990s. She released a studio album in 2024 called Dead Girl Walking. The singer’s manager revealed that Lorrie Morgan’s tour for the foreseeable future was canceled after her husband’s emergency hospitalization. What happened?
Lorrie Morgan Was A Huge Star 30 Years Ago
Lorrie Morgan had hit after hit in the 1990s. Her career kicked off in 1989 with her first single, “Trainwreck of Emotion,” from her debut album Leave A Light On. The album had several hits, including “Five Minutes,” which was her first number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Her follow up album in 1991, Something In Red, featured a cover of the George Jones classic, “A Picture of Me (Without You.)” During her long career, the singer sang with everyone from Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, and Dolly Parton.
At the height of her popularity, Lorrie Morgan turned to acting and had several TV roles. However, she never found success as an actress that she had as a singer. Her career tapered off as the country scene changed, which is something many country artists experienced.
Lorrie Morgan Tour Dates Canceled Amid Husband’s Hospitalization
She married Randy White in 2010. In 2024, she revealed that her husband had been diagnosed with throat cancer. Unfortunately, he was recently hospitalized amid cancer treatments. Lorrie Morgan’s manager revealed in a statement that the singer’s tour schedule for the next two weeks was canceled so she could be with her husband.
According to PEOPLE magazine, Lorrie Morgan was scheduled to open for Alabama on April 17th and 19th. However, she had to bow out amid her husband’s medical situation. Pam Tillis replaced Morgan for those shows. Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan recorded several songs together and continue to tour together.
Lorrie Morgan was also supposed to appear in Nashville at the Opry Country Classics on April 24. She will no longer perform that night, but The Gatlin Brothers, Mark Willis, and Billy Yates are still listed as performers for the event.
So far, the singer is still scheduled for a performances in May through August. But those might be canceled too, depending on what happens with her husband’s medical condition.
Lorrie Morgan’s Shocking Romantic History
Randy White isn’t Lorrie Morgan’s first husband. He’s her sixth. She was previously married to Ron Gaddis from 1979 until 1981. She has one child with her first husband.
Lorrie Morgan was married to Keith Whitley from 1986 until his untimely death in 1989. She wrote her hit song “If You Came Back From Heaven” for her late husband.
The singer was briefly married to Brad Thompson and Jon Randall between 1991 and 1999. Then from 2001 until 2007, she was married to her fifth husband, country singer Sammy Kershaw. The two had several songs together. They released an album of duets, I Finally Found Someone, in 2001. The album also featured solo songs from each singer.
