Loretta’s family confirmed that she passed away at her home in Hurricane Hills, Tennessee at the age of 90. She was a trailblazer and inspiration to many female country artists.

Carrie Underwood shared a beautiful image of Loretta Lynn. The image showed the late country singer decked out in a red dress that featured white embellishments and fringe. She also wore white cowgirl boots. The singer leaned against a pillar as she stood inside a church.

Loretta held onto her guitar as she appeared to be in deep thought. If you look at the tweet below, you can see a trickle of light flooding through the church door behind her. Loretta stood in between the church pews. It was the perfect image to pay tribute to the legendary coal miner’s daughter.

In her lengthy Instagram caption, Carrie Underwood opened up about her relationship with the singer. She recalled a story about when they first met. Carrie was just starting out in her music career as she just won American Idol. She was set to become a big country star herself.

The “Ghost Story” singer could still hear Loretta’s laugh in her head. She praised the legend for never being afraid to be herself and share how she really feels. Throughout her career, Carrie Underwood had many “special moments” with Loretta. She is “truly grateful to have known such an amazing woman and artist.”

Many of Carrie Underwood’s own fans paid tribute to the icon in the comment section. At the time of this writing, her Instagram post amassed over 80,000 likes. Nutritionist Clara Clark wrote: “Love this tribute to such an incredible woman! She really paved the way! Bless her soul.”
