Jason Aldean is dealing with an uproar over his new song and music video “Try That In A Small Town.” The country star is now speaking out about how it isn’t meant the way that some people are taking it.
Jason Aldean’s New Song And Music Video
Jason Aldean just came out with a new hit song “Try That In A Small Town,” but of course, there is some controversy coming along with it. TMZ shared how fans are upset about the song and Jason is speaking out. Some people are saying that the video is racially charged. You have to see it for yourself to decide. Check it out below. Jason Aldean is being accused of this song being “a pro-lynching song,” but the singer says that isn’t the case at all. The video was actually recorded in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee. This is where 18-year-old African-American Henry Choate was lynched in 1927. He was accused of attacking a white girl and was then drug through the streets of town. Jason hasn’t spoken out on why he chose this place to record the video.
Aldean Responds To Backlash
Jason Aldean went to his Instagram to respond to these accusations and the singer says that he didn’t mean it the way people are taking it at all. Instead, Jason just wanted to put out a song about taking care of each other in a small town. The post was on his story only, which means it will disappear in 24 hours. As Jason said, this song has been out since May, but the video just came out. That is what has people in an uproar now. Jason is making it clear that he didn’t mean this video the way that it is being taken by people. Since it is on his story, people can’t comment on the post either. The comments on TMZ Facebook post are very mixed. Some people love the song and others are calling him a “bigot.”
CMT actually went as far as to pull this song from their television station. This is going to hurt Jason on getting views for it or winning any awards.
