There’s one name that still rings loud and clear throughout the halls of the Grand Ole Opry: Presley. Elvis’ granddaughter Riley Keough has been through a whirlwind after the death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley. And if you’re struggling to keep up with the Presley’s, worry not. We’re here with every detail you need to put the puzzle pieces together.

Death can be messy. There are so many details and responsibilities that need to be ironed out that many people don’t expect. After a months-long legal debate, Riley Keough was identified as the sole trustee of the Graceland Estate. This came following a court ruling on August fourth, where the Los Angeles judge on the case delivered the verdict. It’s hard enough to be the daughter of the king of rock and roll, but to be the granddaughter amidst a strained relationship and a long line of family trauma? Well, that’s something else entirely.

Lisa Marie and Riley Keough Knew The Presley Name Belonged To The Limelight

The Presley’s have been under the spotlight for 67 years, and that’s a long leg of time to be gossiped about. But the strife, both in public and private, continued between members of the family in ways that no one could have prepared for. The endless upheaval is on brand for the Presley’s. And the tension that grows around finances and inheritance can make for ugly moments between loved ones. In June, Keough and her grandmother reached an agreement with Michael Lockwood. Lockwood is the Guardian Ad Litem of her twin half sisters, Harper and Finley. Priscilla and Riley also discussed terms for Lisa Marie’s half brother Navarone Garibaldi. In this case, Priscilla took on the role as trustee for his sub-trust. The rest of the trust will be distributed to Riley, Finley and Harper.

The Forgotten Family Feud

As with many families, matters relating to the living will or death of a loved one can take an enormous toll on everyone. After a 2016 amendment about the sole heirs of the estate, Keough’s grandmother Priscilla filed a petition. This petition challenged Lisa Marie’s will. Priscilla raised her brows at the appointment of Riley, her half-sisters Harper and Finley, and her brother who committed suicide a few years prior, the heirs of the estate. Priscilla then filed a petition, alleging nefarious activity around the validity of the will. Those documents arrived three weeks after Lisa Marie’s death. During the settlement that followed, Priscilla agreed to be appointed “Special Advisor to the Trust” and to receiving a lump sum.

This experience has undoubtedly been an exhausting one for the family. But in addition to being buried in the Meditation Garden on the property upon her death, Keough will allow Priscilla able to pick up her personal affects from Graceland. We’ll have to sit tight and watch how this rock and roll version of Game of Thrones plays out. Will a new feud emerge? Keep an eye out for updates.
