Country music singer Sam Hunt made headlines yesterday after posting a video of himself freeing a trapped and injured fox. The 38-year-old singer warned his 3.3M followers of “graphic content” on a black screen with white letters before the video began.

While many assume Sam posted the video to show off his good deed for the day, his video was NOT well-received. In fact, many of his followers noted that someone with “so much money” should have done better to make sure the fox had a chance to heal from its injuries.

What exactly happened in this video? And, what are his followers saying about it? Keep reading for the details.

Without saying a word, Sam Hunt’s video immediately featured the fox trapped in the corner of a wood structure outside. By reading the caption (or later in the video), his followers learn what the structure is. The fox has its foot caught in the corner of Sam’s chicken coop. Doting on the fox as one of the “stealthiest creatures in the South,” Sam Hunt proceeded to explain what was going on in the caption.

One of the stealthiest creatures in the south slipped up and got his leg stuck in the chicken coop. He might not be as agile as he was but he should heal up enough to get along alright.

In the video, Sam used a crowbar as he inched close enough to the structure to use the tool to free the fox from the structure. The small fluffy orange fox chomped on the tool as Sam worked to free it. His viewers could only assume he used the tool so that wasn’t his hands or arms the fox chomped on instead.

Once the country music singer freed the fox from the chicken coop, it immediately scurried away. Before ending the video, Sam panned over the chicken coop and showed off the chickens for the cameras.

His Followers Urge Him To ‘Do Better’

In the comments of his post, it was clear the video was NOT well-received. Many viewers noted foxes were NOT that aggressive. And, he should have captured it and given it a chance to heal before setting it free. Others exclaimed that with all of Sam’s riches and resources, he could have done more.

One fan penned: “With all his money he couldn’t help this little guy out before releasing it back to the wild to suffer!!!!?? This doesn’t sit well with me… do better”

“Why on earth would you post this. Foxes are not generally aggressive to humans and could’ve been secured I. A large blanket and put in a large dog crate and then a wildlife rehab contacted. That will not just heal on its own.” Another added.

Some fans did rush to defend Sam noting that animals get injured and heal in the wild all the time.

The overwhelming majority, however, believed the fox had a broken limb. And, they feared it would die of infection in the wild without proper care at a sanctuary. Overall, his followers thought posting the video was a huge mistake.
