John Rich dropped a new album on August 18th, 2023, and fans are loving it. The 49-year-old released the new music in hopes of improving people’s day. The purpose of The Country Truth is exposing the true nature of America today.

Rich tells Fox News, “I look around our country and I don’t see anything funny going on at all. It doesn’t matter where you look. It’s just more bad news and more bad news… So I thought, you know what America needs right now? They need something funny. They need something to come out that they can laugh with and put a grin on their face.”

Does John Rich’s album reflect this? Is that goal successful?

John Rich Is Offended

In The Country Truth, the arguably most notable song in the track list is “I’m Offended!” In this song, John Rich is not shy about sharing some controversial opinions, including the use of guns and not wearing a mask. Both concepts have started up rage-filled arguments all over the internet.

Here are some lyric highlights from the song:

“It seems like these days
No matter what ya say
Someone’s losin’ their ever lovin’ mind
It’s like they’re lookin’ for a reason
To have their fragile feelings
Hurt every single time”

“‘Cause I’m breathin’ free at last
And you’re still stuck behind yer mask”

“Yeah, I like to shoot my .22
Somehow it seems to always trigger you
I pray to God, you think it’s odd
‘Cause you say He don’t exist so why are you so p*ssed”

John Rich tells Fox News, “It doesn’t matter if you’re right, left, or in the middle. Everything’s offensive all the time. I mean, nobody can take a joke anymore.” He continues, “So I wrote this song … mocking the absurdity of how our country is right now because it’s just so ridiculous.”
