Walker Hayes Writes Song About Taylor Swift After Daughter Attends Show

Country Music, News

Kicking off The Eras Tour in March 2023, singer Taylor Swift captivated the entire music world. Although there are a total of 146 shows, fans scramble and pay outrageous prices for a chance to watch the iconic singer perform. And it seems that even fellow singers like Walker Hayes are discussing the excessive price tag that comes with a Taylor Swift concert. Releasing his newest album New Money, Hayes saved the last track of the record for Taylor Swift, but it isn’t a cameo. Instead, the singer decided to sing about his time at The Eras Tour and what he was willing to do and spend for his daughter Loxley.

Having fun with the song, Walker Hayes belted, Two Taylor Swift concert ticket stubs / Cost me more than my mortgage goes / And that was before T-shirts, cokes and popcorn /But, hey, I mean how many times does your little girl turn 9? Dave Ramsey wouldn’t like it/ But it was priceless watchin’ her watch her hero, singin’ every single word to every song.”

For those who believe Walker Hayes spent top dollar for VIP treatment, he added, “In the nosebleeds, smilin’ like we have VIP passes on / So enchanted, ’til her bedtime struck like midnight and she yawned / And, climbed up in my arms, she was gone.”

Walker Hayes Knows What Really Matters

No matter the price, Walker Hayes saw the silver lining. “Who am I that I get to hold a real life princess / While she sleeps through her way too expensive birthday gift? I just hope that she grows up and always knows that me, her mom and Jesus / Love her even more than she loves Taylor Swift.”

Besides snagging Taylor Swift tickets, the singer always shared his thoughts on fatherhood. Walker Hayes told Fatherly in 2020, “It’s important that your father loves you and that you know it. I know it’s important from being a son. I know my dad loves me. It has helped me to grow into a man. I always want them to know I’m in their corner.”

Dealing With The Loss Of A Child

Walker Hayes never shies away from discussing his love for his family. Together, Hayes and his wife, Laney, share seven children. While celebrating each day surrounded by his wife and kids, in 2018, their seventh child, Oakleigh, passed away at birth. He explained the pain that followed. “I can’t articulate a thing that makes losing a kid worth it. My emotions were so volatile. You want to pour life into something. You try and fix it, but you can’t. Being vocal about it, letting my scars show, just makes people not feel alone.”
