On Friday evening, thousands of fans traveled to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for their chance to see Jason Aldean perform live. With 27 number-one hits and hitting the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, it’s easy to see why the “She’s Country” singer has such a massive following.
But while Aldean commands the stage, he recently invited another singer to join him on tour for a special moment. Although singers often welcome special guests to the stage, during Aldean’s concert, fans appeared shocked when they found themselves watching the artist behind Honkytonk University.
With fans already enjoying Jason Aldean’s set, Oklahoma City needed a little more star power with an Oklahoma native. The singer announced, “There’s only one guy that you kinda think of when you come to Oklahoma City….make some noise for the Big Dawg Daddy, Toby Keith!”
Should’ve Been a Cowboy
Welcomed with an explosion of cheers and applause, Toby Keith thanked Jason Aldean, adding that he was currently on his “rehab tour.” “If I’m not at my bar, I’m down at Hollywood Corners or I’m on stage with Jason Aldean. The Almighty’s been riding shotgun and my a** is ready to get back to work!”
Ready to get back to work and the stage, Toby Keith and Jason Aldean joined forces to sing not just any classic song. Back in February 1993, Keith released “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” Within three months of its release, the song hit number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs, and by the end of the 90s, it was played over three million times. With such success, the song is considered one of the most-played songs during the entire decade.

With such a hit on its hands, the duo decided to stick with the classic and give the Oklahoma City audience a true spectacle.
Toby Keith Gives Update On Health
Although Jason Aldean is a seasoned performer, he even found Toby Keith on stage to be a special moment. On Saturday, Aldean posted a collage of photos of his concert and Keith on his social media.
He wrote, “Sometimes you just have one of those special nights that you will never forget. I had one of those tonight in Oklahoma City. Thank you to a true legend Toby Keith for coming out tonite. Mad respect and u brought the house down big Dawg!”

Watching Toby Keith perform on stage caused fans to wonder if the singer could be returning to the stage soon. Having battled stomach cancer for some time, the country singer eventually canceled all his 2022 shows due to seeking treatment. Speaking on his health, he admitted, “It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and gown. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today.”
Would you love to see Toby Keith perform live, or have you? Be sure to tell us your story in the comment section below.
We had the opportunity to see Toby in Daytona at the Vietnam Veterans Honor Festival. He came out for the Veterans even though he wasn’t touring because of his fight against cancer. When we realised what he had done to be there for the Vets we were in awe. We were so glad for the opportunity to see him perform, yet concerned about his health. We wish every blessing for Toby and his family as he continues his battle..
