While it might take singers years, countless songs, and maybe their whole career to top Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, it took Oliver Anthony nothing more than singing in the woods.
Channeling the society around him, Anthony used his emotions to write “Rich Men North of Richmond,” which dominated the charts, reaching number one and catapulting him into the spotlight. With fame knocking at his door, the singer seemed to take each new opportunity to show how much he represented the middle class. And now, it appears that his life has taken another turn when he and his wife welcomed a new member to their growing family.
Turning Down $8 Million
Since his rise in August, Oliver Anthony has captured the attention of millions of people around the country. He even appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience to discuss his sudden fame and where he drew inspiration from.
Although enjoying his time in the spotlight, the singer isn’t letting it change him. Releasing his music independently, Anthony explained how he turned down a staggering $8 million, saying, “I don’t want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don’t want to play stadium shows, I don’t want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression.”
Detailing why the music is making such an impact, Oliver Anthony added, “These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they’re being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bull—. Just some idiot and his guitar.”
Oliver Anthony Isn’t Slowing Down
Oliver Anthony continues to tour around the country, sharing his music with fans. On Tuesday, he updated his Facebook with a more person update, showing that his wife, Tiffany, was in labor.
He noted, “The baby boy may be making an appearance sometime today. Have been at the hospital since 12am. Will keep y’all updated!”
While going silent for numerous hours, Oliver Anthony updated fans once again, and this time he wrote, “Mission Accomplished” with a photo of his new son.

With Oliver Anthony announcing upcoming performances, the singer commented on his photo, reassuring fans he would still singing at his upcoming show on October 28. “Even with baby coming early, we will still all set for playing the Longwood show on 28th btw. Don’t want anyone worrying about it.”
