Country music singer Maren Morris breaks her silence after filing for divorce from Ryan Hurd earlier this month. Keep reading to find out what she said.
Why Did Maren Morris & Ryan Hurd Split
Us Weekly broke the news in October 2023 that Maren Morris had filed to end her marriage to Ryan Hurd. The news came as a shock, as they were just spotted together a few months prior at a Taylor Swift concert.
The outlet reported that the “Girl” singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
Hurd and Morris met in 2012 during a songwriting session for Tim McGraw’s song “Last Turn Home.” Things didn’t become romantic until two years later, and then their romance continued full speed ahead.
Ryan Hurd proposed in 2017, and the duo married a year later.
They became a family of three in 2020 after welcoming their son, Hayes.
In 2021, Ryan Hurd released his first album, Pelago, which Morris helped co-write.
Throughout their relationship, Hurd and Morris teamed up for several songs, including “Chasing After You.”
He supported her through several social media storms, including her feud with Brittany Aldean and calling country music “toxic.”
Maren Morris Breaks Silence
Despite media reports about the split, neither Maren Morris nor Ryan Hurd have released official statements about the end of their marriage.
However, Morris broke her silence by subtly addressing the news. She posted a cryptic quote to her Instagram Story on Oct. 20.
“It will be fine. It will just be, and when it is, you will face what’s necessary.”
She later shared the same quote on her main feed with the caption, “Welcome to The End where you can come and lose some friends…”
The post received over 60k heart reactions and nearly 1,000 comments of support.
One follower wrote, “You are awesome and you will get through this!” Another comment said, “Honey – those you lose were never your friends.”
She Makes It Clear She’s No Longer Married
Why did the “80s Mercedes” singer file for divorce from Ryan Hurd after five years of marriage? We don’t know the details, but she made it clear that she is no longer married.
In addition to the cryptic quote, the country singer shared a selfie with fans. She sports jeans and a white shirt in the snapshot. Her short, black hair is covered by a baseball cap with the words “There were nights when the wind was so cold,” which are lyrics from Celine Dion’s hit song “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”
While her face is obscured by her phone, both of her hands are clearly visible in the photo. Maren Morris is no longer sporting her wedding ring.
