Model Christie Brinkley took to Instagram to shut down criticism of Dolly Parton and her fashion choices amid backlash for the singer. Keep reading to find out what Brinkley had to say.
Dolly Parton Sets Internet Ablaze With Sexy Outfit
Viewers tuning into the Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Commanders game on Thanksgiving Day were in for a special treat at halftime. Legendary singer and sometimes-actress Dolly Parton was the headlining act, but fans got more than they expected when she took the stage.
Parton, 77, took centerstage sporting the iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleading uniform. The immediately recognizable outfit consists of a white and blue sleeveless vest top and matching high-waisted shorts, both adorned with the team’s iconic star logo.
Dolly Parton’s fashion choice was the talk of the internet, and the conversation is still ongoing. Many took to social media to praise the singer for her bold choice. Memes popped up everywhere, comparing the “Jolene” singer showing off her toned midriff at 77 to people half her age stuck on the couch.

But not everyone liked what they saw.
While most of the online chatter about Dolly Parton’s attire was positive, there are always haters. One Twitter user went viral for advising men to seek women who want children, not women like Dolly Parton, who has remained childless despite being married for almost 60 years.

Christie Brinkley Shuts Down Dolly Parton Criticism
It seems nearly everyone had an opinion on the “9 to 5” singer wearing the revealing cheerleader outfit, but one defense came from a surprising place. Sports Illustrated cover model Christie Brinkley shared her thoughts on Instagram.
She shared a throwback photo of Parton in their younger years. She started off her lengthy caption by directly addressing the haters. “Whoever had the nerve to suggest that the one and only Dolly Parton should dress her age, should sit down!”
Brinkley went on to add that Dolly Parton can’t be defined by her age. The former Dancing With The Stars contestant went on to list Parton’s virtues, including her “talents, her boundless good energy and effervescent humor, and her golden philanthropic heart full of love!”
The model who starred in then-husband Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” video called Dolly Parton’s outfit “inspiring and fun.” She also made sure to shout out Dolly Parton topping the Billboard chart with her Rockstar album, which currently sits at #3 on the charts.

Brinkley wrote, “I’ll cut this short like your killer outfit and just say, I LOVE YOU DOLLY!”
Then the Cover Girl spokesperson shared a genius idea: Dolly Parton should pose for the next swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated, making sure to tag the magazine’s social media account.
Christie Brinkley graced the cover a record-breaking four times, so perhaps she has the influence to make it happen.
What do you think of Christie Brinkley’s fiery defense of Dolly Parton? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Dolly looked just fine and wore a sparkly nude net body suit under the uniform and she looked great. I’m starting to think people should just let other people bè. Live and let live.
